A colleague points out the website of the vast annual Bryn
Mawr-Wellesley booksale held in Princeton, an institution for
generations. They have a list of books they will not accept for
donations. The last item on the second line makes arresting reading
for a humanist.
* Encyclopedias (except the Britannica 11th edition)
* Law books, Medical books, scholarly monographs
* Business books greater than 10 years old
* Magazines and journals (except art magazines)
* Reader's Digest Condensed Books
* Harlequin and Silhouette romances
* Textbooks in any field
* Outdated materials such as software manuals more than 2 years old,
almanacs, restaurant & hotel guides
* The Life Nature Library, The Life Science Library, and The Life World Library
* Anything in such bad condition that you would not read it in bed as
well as books that are heavily underlined
* Books that haven't sold in another book sale. If they couldn't sell
them we can't either
