CAPES Consortium Signs Deal with AAP and ACCP

March 19, 2012 | Leiden, The Netherlands – In a landmark deal that
took three years to negotiate, all member institutions of the CAPES
consortium in Brazil have subscribed to Pediatrics (AAP) and CHEST
(ACCP). CAPES is an academic consortium of the Brazilian government
with more than 150 members. The consortium deal was brokered by
ACCUCOMS.

CAPES, or Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior,
is a Brazilian public organization attached to the Ministry of
Education. All member institutions have online access to many STM
publications via the portal www.periodicos.capes.gov.br.

Allison Durocher Tarazona, Licensing Manager at the American Academy
of Pediatrics (AAP): “We are excited to provide access to Pediatrics -
the world-class source for up-to-date research and clinical
information related to children's health- to the universities in
Brazil through the CAPES consortium. We share CAPES’ commitment to
providing researchers with groundbreaking research, which in turn
furthers our organization's mission to improve the healthcare of
children worldwide.”

Pat Micek, Manager, Subscriptions and Advertising at the American
College of Chest Physicians (ACCP): “The ACCP is very pleased to
expand its presence in Brazil. Our members as well as our subscribers
benefit from this deal. The latest research and knowledge on chest
diseases will be disseminated to a large number of institutions, which
will improve lives and stimulate further research."

Anouk Snijders, Sales Manager Latin America at ACCUCOMS: “CAPES is one
of the largest academic consortia in Latin America. ACCUCOMS
introduced CAPES to AAP and ACCP approximately three years ago and
went through the full negotiation process with this consortium. Among
other things, we activated a trial for all member institutions and
presented several consortium proposals. It is very rewarding to see
the results of our efforts and to know that so many Brazilian
libraries now have access to journals as renowned and relevant as
CHEST and Pediatrics.”
