Isn't the bigger part of the problem the paper requirement?

"provided the electronic file is deleted immediately after printing,
for the purposes of  research or private study and not for Commercial
Use, a single paper  copy of an electronic original of an individual
document being part of  the Licensed Materials"

Interlibrary loan departments deliver articles and book chapters
digitally.  Our faculty and students expect digital delivery.
Depending on how individual institutions interpret this kind of
boilerplate, this shuts digital delivery down.

Could you simply remove reference to Ariel?  This way the language
covers whatever secure electronic transmission tools are available?
