“Discovering and Cataloging Repositories and Unique Collections: An
Update on Standards, Preservation, and Usage,” a forum jointly
presented by the ALCTS CRS Standards Committee and the Holdings
Committee

Saturday, January 21, 2012, 4:00-5:30 pm, DCC, Room D168

As more resources are indexed online and as more researchers begin
their quest in a digital environment, unique local collections and
institutional repositories play an ever more important role. The
development of standards for these materials and ensuring their
long-term preservation is crucial. Join us for an update by
Marie-Elise Waltz of CRL on “Auditing Digital Repositories, The TDR
Checklist, and ISO 16363.” Learn about the RDA testing experiences
with mainly non-print resources at Columbia University. Melanie Wacker
will present “Cataloging Unique Collections with RDA and Non-MARC
Standards.” Discover how the PIRUS2 project (Publisher and
Institutional Repository Usage Statistics) is enabling the recording
and reporting of articles hosted by aggregators or in repositories.
Gary Van Overborg of Scholarly iQ will discuss “The PIRUS Project:
Objectives, Outcomes, and Next Steps.”
