University of Toronto Press cooperates with De Gruyter
Partnership for electronic content

Berlin, 12 October 2015

University of Toronto Press and De Gruyter are proud to announce that
they have formed a partnership for the worldwide sales of electronic
publications. These include selected new releases and a comprehensive
backlist of around 2,000 e-books. The transatlantic sales cooperation
expands the global reach of University of Toronto Press and
strengthens the portfolio of De Gruyter with outstanding,
research-intensive content and world-renowned authors. This
arrangement makes University of Toronto Press the first Canadian
university publisher to partner with the De Gruyter Online platform.

“De Gruyter has impressed us with its international sales team and its
innovative business models for libraries,” says John Yates, President
of University of Toronto Press. “The collaboration offers a great
opportunity to increase the visibility and accessibility of our
quality-rich publications worldwide.”

The University of Toronto Press, one of North America’s premier
scholarly presses, was founded in 1901 and is the leading university
publisher in Canada. It publishes a highly regarded academic list
covering all humanities and social sciences fields, by widely
acclaimed authors such as Brent D. Shaw, John K. Noyes, and Siegfried
Wenzel, and a range of series including the Collected Works of
Erasmus, the Letters of Benjamin Disraeli, and Toronto Iberic.

“The partnership with University of Toronto Press is a big win for De
Gruyter,” says Carsten Buhr, Managing Director of De Gruyter. “We’re
confident that their content that we’re now offering through the De
Gruyter Online platform will be of great interest to scholarly
libraries and researchers worldwide.”
