The following session may be of interest to folks who work with
licensing for bundled packages. In the interest of full disclosure,
I’ll note that I’m moderating it.
The Publisher/ Vendor Relations Discussion Group of the ACRL Science &
Technology Section invites you to join us at ALA Midwinter for:
“Packaging e-Resources: Changing Models, Changing Expectations”
Sunday January 26th
8:30am – 10:00am
Pennsylvania Convention Center – Room 117
The academic electronic publishing landscape is becoming increasingly
complex. This session will examine the wide variety of models that the
major STEM publishers are now using to package their content for
libraries.
Topics of discussion will include: multiple platforms for books and
journals vs unified platforms for all e-content; re-packaging
collections of reference works into electronic databases; rental and
pay-per-view models for journals; subscription-only vs purchase
options for e-resources; sales models for titles and collections in
e-book archives; and print-on-demand for e-books.
Panelists:
· Suzanne BeDell, Managing Director, Science & Technology
Books at Elsevier
· Bob Boissy, Manager, Account Development & Strategic
Alliances at Springer
· Jay Flynn, Vice President and Managing Director, Marketing
and Digital Product Management and Global Research at Wiley
· Rosa Perez, Director, eBooks and Digital Content Sales at
Taylor and Francis
· Moderator: Scott Warren, Interim Associate Dean for Research
and Scholarship, Syracuse University Libraries
Please join us for a lively Sunday morning discussion.
Thanks,
Scott
