Anecdotally, I have heard that some researchers find the user
experience with Sci-Hub much better than that of the publisher via
their library. No authentication, no logging on via institutional
systems - just straight to the paper you want. If you are home, say,
and know what you want to read the chances are you will get access
more quickly and with less hassle via Sci-Hub than any other route.
Negotiating paywalls is not always simple.
