The AOASG has published a new blog; "An effective market for APCs?"
which analyses and discusses some of the findings and recommendations
arising from the report: Developing an effective market for article
processing charges. The implications of some of the proposed scenarios
are explored and some of the highlights from the report are listed
including issues with the management of article processing charges,
the mega journal revolution and the uptake of open access. The blog
also discusses the information recently released by Wellcome Trust on
their expenditure on article processing funds  - the amounts and the
recipients. This new report and the Wellcome Trust numbers together
highlight some of the many substantial issues related to the payment
of article processing charges.
