Apropos of the discussion about text mining on this list a few months
back, I am passing along this information about an upcoming CRL
event.

On November 13 the Center for Research Libraries will hold a webinar
for CRL members: "Text Mining: Opportunities and
Challenges."<http://www.crl.edu/events/8391> The webinar explores
recent trends in researchers' use of text mining and how academic
publishers and libraries are responding. Representatives of Elsevier
and Gale Cengage will present the journal and database publishers'
perspective.

Topics to be covered:

* the challenges and issues text mining presents for database publishers
* how libraries can support these activities
* what new services and tools are envisioned or in the pipeline.

The webinar is open to faculty, staff and researchers at 268 CRL
libraries. CRL offers webinars as part of the Global Resources Forum,
a program of events and activities that support library
decision-making on collection and electronic resource investments.
