Apologies if this has been covered, but if so I missed it -- are there any
data on what the deposit rate actually is?

The NIHMS (http://www.nihms.nih.gov/) tracks submissions and seems to hover
around 5000 per month (http://www.nihms.nih.gov/stats/).  That would be
around 75% if the last estimate I heard for NIH papers funded
(80K/year) is still ballpark accurate.  However, the NIHMS doesn't seem to
capture all of the deposits, only methods C and D
(http://publicaccess.nih.gov/submit_process.htm).

So, is this tracked?  If so, how? Where are the data?

cheers,

Bill.
