Laird Barrett’s Identify Team takes responsibility for authenticating
visitors to our websites, like Nature.com and SpringerLink. He is
Springer Nature’s representative to the RA21: Resource Access in the
21st Century Steering Committee.

Overview:

Soon Springer Nature plans to implement a new institutional
authentication and access journey on Nature.com, making use of the
SeamlessAccess.org (formerly RA21: Resource Access in the 21st
Century) services.

It can be painful for your researchers to gain access to your
subscriptions on a publisher’s site when they are outside of your
institution’s network IP ranges.  Researchers are required to
authenticate themselves as members of your institution by using a
proxy, federated authentication, or another means.

Laird Barrett, Product Manager for the Springer Nature Identity team,
will talk about the problem researchers face. Laird will demonstrate
and explain the solution we will implement to address the problem and
what we are planning next for the new experience. You will have the
opportunity to discuss your questions with Laird.
