I donĀ¹t think anyone is proposing that institutions withold public access
to theses and dissertations. What is being suggested is that the authors
of those theses and dissertations should perhaps be allowed to choose how
and when their work will be made public. Are you suggesting that to give
them that choice would be to do them a disservice?
