*** Apologies for cross-posting ***

Annual Reviews have just launched the Annual Review of Virology which
will capture and describe the most important advances in our
understanding of viruses of animals, plants, bacteria, archaea, fungi,
and protozoa. The journal also aims to innovate by making full use of
multimedia incorporating interactive graphics, visual aids, slide
sets, and videos (view the video table of contents
http://www.annualreviews.org/page/virologytoc).

With recent outbreaks of virus diseases such as Ebola, H5N1 influenza,
SARS and HIV, public concern in this area has never been higher.
Articles about viruses can be found in more than half of all Annual
Reviews journals, reflecting the central role that viruses play in
many areas of biological science and this extensive level of interest
has clearly justified a journal dedicated to this important field.

**It’s also worth mentioning that complimentary online access to the
first volume of the journal is available until until September 2015.

Full details in the Press Release below or online at

in touch with me, or with Jenni at Annual Reviews (contact info given
at the end) if you need any more info.

Kind Regards

PRESS RELEASE

Annual Reviews Announces New Virology Journal

Palo Alto, CA – October 7, 2014. Annual Reviews, the nonprofit
publisher that thoughtfully synthesizes critical research literature,
is pleased to announce the launch of Annual Review of Virology. This
journal will capture and describe the most important advances in our
understanding of viruses of animals, plants, bacteria, archaea, fungi,
and protozoa. Reviews will address exciting discoveries and new
directions in basic and applied virology including studies of virus
structure and replication, viral pathogenesis, virus-host
interactions, viral evolution, and immune responses to viral
infections.

Annual Review of Virology is edited by Professor Lynn W. Enquist
(Henry L. Hillman Professor of Molecular Biology at Princeton
University), with Associate Editors Terence S. Dermody (Dorothy
Overall Wells Professor of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University School
of Medicine) and Daniel DiMaio (Waldemar Von Zedtwitz Professor of
Genetics at Yale School of Medicine). “There is so much going on in
virology that keeping up with the field presents a challenge for all
virologists, from students to professionals,” said Dr. Enquist. “Our
vision in starting the Annual Review of Virology was to find
innovative ways to communicate the excitement of virology and the
important advances in the field to students and colleagues in an age
of information overload.” He continues “we also hope to broaden the
readership of the reviews by incorporating interactive graphics,
visual aids, slide sets, and videos. Researchers, faculty, and
students are encouraged to use the multimedia content for further
discovery, in the classroom, in the lab, and while browsing on mobile
devices.”

Dr. DiMaio says “I am delighted that Annual Reviews is highlighting
virology as a discipline in its own right. With recent outbreaks of
virus diseases such as Ebola, H5N1 influenza, SARS and HIV, public
concern has never been higher. Articles about viruses can be found in
more than half of all Annual Reviews journals, reflecting the central
role that viruses play in many areas of biological science. However,
advances in virology tend to be lost in a sea of articles on other
topics. This new journal will now provide a dedicated home for
virology articles.”

Complimentary online access to the first volume of the journal is
available until September 2015 at virology.annualreviews.org.
Interested institutions that do not have a current online account and
would like to track usage statistics of the complimentary access to
the journal may register with the Sales Department
