PRESS RELEASE

EDP Sciences and SICOT announce the launch of a new Open Access
journal in orthopaedics: SICOT-J

Paris, France - January 12, 2015. EDP Sciences and SICOT
(International Society of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology) are
pleased to announce the launch of a new open access journal, SICOT-J.
The journal will be part of the EDP Open portfolio and will cover the
entire field of orthopaedics and traumatology.

SICOT-J will place a high priority on rapid publication and seeks to
publish a broad range of research study types including original
clinical, basic and translational research. In addition, the journal
will publish editorials, review articles, surgical technique papers,
and case reports as well as the latest congress proceedings and
letters to the editors.

“We are extremely pleased to partner with EDP Sciences to offer a
journal that will be at the forefront of many of the exciting
developments within orthopaedics and traumatology’ said Prof. Jochen
Eulert, SICOT Secretary General. ‘By offering an open access journal
in addition to the society’s successful International Orthopaedics
Journal, SICOT is further strengthening its key mission to promote the
advancement of the science and art of orthopaedics and traumatology at
an international level.”

Professor Hatem Said, of Assiut University, Egypt and Professor
Jacques Caton, of Clinique Orthopedique Emilie de Vialar, Lyon,
France, are co-Editors of the new journal working with a global team
of associate and section editors to manage the journal and its peer
review process. ‘The drive for openness in surgery at present provides
both exciting opportunities and significant challenges for clinical
research’, said Professor Caton, ‘One of the reasons I am so pleased
to be editing this new open access journal will be the broadening of
access to the developments in the orthopaedics and traumatology field
to researchers and clinicians with limited access to subscription
journals.’

“At EDP we have a commitment to Open Access and supporting our society
partners in this arena”, said Jean-Marc Quilbé, President of EDP
Sciences. “We are delighted to be partnering with SICOT on the launch
of this new open access journal, to expand their international reach
and coverage. Working with a highly regarded editorial board, we look
forward to developing a longstanding and influential relationship as
the scope and research of the journal continues to expand”.

SICOT-J will publish articles under a CC-BY license, enabling authors
to be fully compliant with open access requirements of funding
organizations where they apply. Authors are now invited to submit
their manuscripts and during the first year of publication article
processing charges will be waived. The website is now live at
www.sicot-j.org .
