"New Horizons in Evaluation Metrics for Scholarly Research"

A panel of experts from the altmetrics community will share ideas
about emerging altmetrics projects and the significance of evaluation
metrics for the scholarly research community.

Featured speakers:

• Todd Carpenter, NISO

• Jean Liu, Altmetric.com

• Mike Taylor, Elsevier Labs

• Moderator: Eric Swenson (Scopus)

The speakers will discuss:

• Overall evaluation metrics landscape, including current providers,
types of data and sources, and the challenges of bringing sources
together.

• NISO's Alternative Assessment Metrics (Altmetrics) Project that
seeks to explore, identify and advance best practices related to a new
suite of potential metrics in the librarian-publisher-software
developer community.

• How librarians and repository managers can use article-level metrics
to showcase and track the impact of papers within a librarian's
institutional repository.
