Subject: OA2020-ESAC Community of Practice call | July 30, 11am CET
Dear Colleagues,
The global OA2020 and ESAC Initiatives are delighted to announce the
launch of a Community of Practice call series in European, African,
Asian and Australian time zones. These calls will be an opportunity
for mutual exchange among library and consortium practitioners on
their approaches and experiences negotiating and implementing
transformative open access agreements to accelerate the transition of
scholarly journals to open access.
The first call will address some of the key aspects of transformative
agreements, and the ensuing discussion and participant feedback will
contribute to planning of future calls. Aiming to explore the unique
challenges and opportunities of smaller national consortia, the guest
speaker of our first call will be Jack Hyland, manager of the IReL
consortium in Ireland, which has aligned senior management around
negotiation principles that have led to the successful negotiation of
transformative open access agreements with publishers large (Elsevier)
and small (Company of Biologists).
All staff and faculty from libraries and library consortia are invited
to join us in the inaugural OA2020-ESAC Community of Practice call on
Thursday 30 July at 11am CET.

Note: the series complements a similar series organized by the US
OA2020 Working Group in time zones of the Americas.
