This short piece was called to my attention:

http://science.sciencemag.org/content/357/6352/654.1

Assuming innocence, I'm struck that there is still a lot of
essentially amateurish practice in science and scholarship and a
reasonable countervailing pressure to set and observe professional
standards. Things are changing, but we still see scientists wanting
their data curated who have built data sets with no serious plan.
Libraries in my experience can enable and assist but are not
themselves in a position to drive real change.
