More Publishers Participating; 2014 Pricing Available for Project MUSE's
UPCC Book Collections

Project MUSE is pleased to announce that 2014 pricing for its UPCC Book
Collections is now available. The UPCC collections include scholarly books
primarily in the humanities and social sciences from more than 100
university presses and related not-for-profit publishers, and will make
available some 30,000 digital books by the end of 2014.

With the inclusion of content from several distinguished university
presses for 2014, among them the University of California Press,
University of Minnesota Press, and the recently revived University of
Missouri Press, MUSE continues to expand its book offerings in key
disciplines including literature, anthropology, political science,
cultural studies, religion, regional studies, and the arts. A total of
twelve additional participating publishers have been confirmed to date,
including:

Chinese University Press
Cornell University Press
Fortress Press
Leuven University Press
Northern Illinois University Press
Ohio State University Press
School for Advanced Research Press
Texas Tech University Press
University of California Press
University of Minnesota Press
University of Missouri Press
University of South Carolina Press

Discussions are ongoing with interested publishers and it is expected that
more participants may be announced prior to the end of the year.

UPCC Acquisition Options include Collection and Single-Title Purchasing,
Time-Based Subscriptions

MUSE offers libraries several choices for accessing the UPCC scholarship
on the MUSE platform. Purchase options include collections of forthcoming,
recent, and backlist titles in best-selling subjects such as Political
Science and Policy Studies, History, Global Cultural Studies, and Religion
and Philosophy. Libraries may choose to acquire deeply in selected
subject areas, or purchase a broad interdisciplinary mix of the latest
titles from many of the best scholarly publishers. Also available are Area
Studies Collections, introduced for 2013 in response to library requests,
including African Studies, American Studies, Asian and Pacific Studies,
Jewish Studies, Latin American and Caribbean Studies, Native American and
Indigenous Studies, and Russian and East European Studies. These
interdisciplinary collections bring together books that facilitate
in-depth examination of the historical, cultural, political, and social
forces shaping the region of interest.

Also introduced during 2013 was the option for title-by-title book
purchasing, currently facilitated through YBP Library Services. Libraries
may supplement collection purchases or build a customized collection from
the ground up, as well as integrate UPCC ebooks into approval plans,
utilizing YBP's acquisition and collection management services. Libraries
interested in single title purchasing should contact [log in to unmask] for
further information.

Access to UPCC books is also offered through a subscription model, with
two options based on the publication dates of the included titles. The
Current Subscription option provides faculty and students with unlimited
access to more than 8,500 books published in 2012, 2013, and forthcoming
in 2014. With affordable tiered subscription rates, libraries may choose
to subscribe as a method for examining ebook usage at their institution,
and determining which collections and books would be best suited for
permanent acquisition. An Archive Subscription is also available,
providing unlimited access to over 21,000 UPCC books published in 2011 or
earlier for a very reasonable fee.

All UPCC books on MUSE are DRM-free, with unlimited simultaneous usage,
downloading, and printing. Accessible on any PDF-compatible mobile device,
the books are fully integrated for searching and browsing with the
hundreds of thousands of scholarly journal articles in MUSE. Interlibrary
loan is allowed for purchased books.
