That last sentence contains some word the iPad cooked up. It should be
photographs not 'p boots'!!

Hi Joe and others - I was curious also about the 1750s, and put that
in as a search term. At the site, there are a couple of engravings.
One says 1872 LondonBridge (for me it was the middle image) and the
pop up at the bottom speaks  of engravings from 1750s. . . I'd say
that was a far cry from p boots, though.

I thought members of this list would want to see this comment on the
Web site for the Google-hosted respository of Life photos:

"Search millions of photographs from the LIFE photo archive,
stretching from the 1750s to today. Most were never published and are
now available for the first time through the joint work of LIFE and
Google."

I know the people at Google are all wizards, but surely not even
Google can claim to have access to photos a full century before
photography was invented.
