Worth a detour:

The creators of more than a billion photos, videos, songs and other
works are giving them away on the internet for others to use for free
forever — a big milestone for Creative Commons, the non-profit
organization behind the copyright licences allowing that use.

The report shows that Creative Commons licences have nearly tripled in
the last five years to 1.1 billion. The first Creative Commons
licences were released in December 2002.
