Please excuse cross-posting.

We have an exciting panel for the Acquisition Managers and Vendors
Interest Group this year at ALA Annual. We will be discussing
negotiations between libraries and vendors and have some seasoned
panelists that will be able to provide helpful and insightful
commentary to anyone involved in negotiating with libraries or
vendors.

We look forward to seeing you there!

We hope that you will be able to join the ALCTS AMVIG Interest Group
meeting this year in Chicago.

DATE: Sunday, June 25, 2017
TIME: 1:00 PM-2:30 PM
LOCATION: McCormick Place Convention Center – W187b

Negotiation between Libraries and Vendors: Practices and Strategies.

We are pleased to welcome the following participants for a panel
discussion on the above topic.

Representing the library community:

· Rick Burke, Executive Director, SCELC (Statewide California
Electronic Library Consortium): “Negotiation, Not War”

· Sharla Lair, Licensing Program Strategist, LYRASIS:
“Collaborative Collaboration”

Representing the vendor community:

· Ben Cartwright, Head of North American Sales, Adam Matthew:
“Views on Specialist Content & One-Time Acquisitions”

· David Horwitz, Vice President of Sales at Sage, SAGE
Publications: “Best Practices for Successful Negotiations with Your
Publisher”

The four panel members will provide brief presentations, and then open
it up to the audience for participation and questions. During their
presentations, they will address these kinds of questions.

1. What is the best way to approach negotiation for pricing,
services, licenses, etc.?

2. What are some techniques that you used that were successful?

3. What are some good relationship building and collaboration
tools that you have used?

4. What best practices do you recommend?
