The geeks on this list will mourn the passing of Doug Englebart, a
true technological visionary.  He headed up the Augment project at SRI
for many years and is responsible for so much that we take for granted
nowadays.  The link to the Wikipedia bio is here:

Anyone who wants to know more about Englebart may wish to read "What
the Dormouse Said" by John Markoff.  The reference in the book title
to Jefferson Airplane is not idle, as, among other things, Englebart
experimented with some aspects of Bay Area hippie culture.
