University of Delaware Library to Host ACRL Roadshow

“Scholarly Communication: From Understanding to Engagement”

March 29, 2017 | 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

The ACRL Roadshow, Scholarly Communication: From Understanding to
Engagement will be offered on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at the
Courtyard Marriott - Newark, University of Delaware on the University
of Delaware campus. Registration is $50.00 ($46.68 + $3.32 in
registration fees) and includes breakfast, lunch and snacks. Jenny
Oleen, Scholarly Communications Librarian, Western Washington
University and Jaron Porciello, Digital Scholarship Initiatives
Coordinator, Digital Scholarship and Preservation Services, Cornell
University will lead the workshop.

The workshop is directed towards librarians and library staff who
need a broad foundational knowledge of scholarly communication issues
and will focus on three areas:

• Copyright 201 - Making and Sharing Scholarship

• Open Education (resources, textbooks, courses)

• Outreach and Programming

Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of copyright and its
application to the rights questions that arise on their campuses, a
strategy for promoting open education resources and supporting faculty
who choose to use such resources, and practical ideas for developing
outreach activities and models for supporting changes in scholarly
communication.

The workshop is appropriate for administrators, library liaisons,
those working in scholarly communication or digital publishing, as
well as any others who are seeking to increase their knowledge of
scholarly communication.
