Subject: RE: Excellent short piece on impact of the EU Referendum

Dear Ann

Following on from your LibLicense post yesterday regarding Outsell's
Insight on the implications of the UK leaving the EU, I wanted to let
you know that we have posted the Insight in a public place so that it
is freely accessible to those who'd like to view it.

The link is: https://www.outsellinc.com/outsell-insight-special-analysis

Please do feel free to post the link to the List.

Best wishes

On Friday 6/24, Leigh Watson Healey of Outsell wrote a lengthy news
note for Outsell Insights. It's a subscription publication that many
on this list may read -- but unfortunately there's no way to send a
link. Here's an excerpt that particularly caught my attention - from
an academic institution's point of view. Regards, Ann

SPECIAL ANALYSIS: Brexit and What It Means for the Information Industry

The Brexit referendum results have delivered a political and economic
earthquake that will rock Britain and Europe and have repercussions
around the world and for all parts of the information industry.

STM

The immediate implications will be around UK Research and Development
(R&D) funding. Brexit will leave a significant hole in R&D funding as
the UK’s research institutions have been incredibly successful in
competing for European research funds. They account for a third of the
UK’s research funding (see Insights, 26 May 2016, UK R&D at Risk in
the Event of a Brexit). The leading players in science publishing have
been German (Springer), Anglo-Dutch (Elsevier) and Anglo-US (Wiley).
Brexit is likely to lead to a reconcentration on Continental Europe.
