In an October blog post Mike Eisen listed 8 PLoS One clones:

The American Society for Microbiology’s mBio
The Genetics Society of America’s G3
BMJ Open
Company of Biologists Biology Open
Nature’s Scientific Reports
Cell Press’s Cell Reports
The Royal Society’s Open Biology
SAGE Open

Cell Press apparently don't view Cell Reports as a PLoS One clone as
they will use perceived importance as a criterion for rejection.  But
taking them out and adding both FEBS and PLoS One itself we have at
least nine.

Well there is also the recent International Scholarly Research Network
from Hindawi http://www.isrn.com/journals/ which includes around 75
journals, not all of which appear to have much content as yet.

They have been active recruiting reviewers to form large editorial
boards to support the fast tracking. I have had a couple of wary
researchers here ask for opinions as to whether it is GOOD THING,
after being scared off by some of the 'predatory' OA publishers
spamming them.

Thanks

Shirley

How many peer reviewed, fast track journals are there now?  Must be
somewhere between 10 and 20?

Is there a site that itemizes these?

Thank you, Ann Okerson
