Award Winning Publisher Adam Matthew Announces State-Wide Contract
with TexShare Consortium

New Agreement provides Texans with hundreds of thousands of pages of
unique American social and cultural history, and literature materials

(Marlborough, England – November 19, 2013) Publisher Adam Matthew has
announced a major new agreement with the Texas State Libraries and
Archives Commission (TSLAC) to provide permanent access to two Adam
Matthew online collections via the TexShare consortium.

Supplying close to two thousand institutions across Texas, from K-12
to 4-year colleges, public libraries and community colleges, this new
agreement provides unparalleled access to hundreds of thousands of
pages of rare and unique American history materials, including much
about Texas itself.

“Working with unique primary source material is a privilege and
responsibility that everyone at Adam Matthew embraces,” commented Khal
Rudin, Adam Matthew Director. “We’re passionate about reaching as wide
an audience as possible and we are very proud and excited that
TexShare has made this very special content available to millions of
users in Texas.”

The TSLAC institutions will now be able to access both The American
West (winner of a “Choice Outstanding Academic Title 2008”), and the
recently published American Indian Histories and Cultures, sourced
exclusively from Chicago’s Newberry Library, (www.newberry.org),
holder of some of the finest American history collections in the
world.

From first encounters between European settlers and American Indians,
to the portrayal of the “Wild West” in popular American culture, these
two, cross-searchable digital collections cover hundreds of years of
history, literature, social and visual culture.

“Both resources are really unique. There’s nothing like them in
TexShare,” remarked Deborah Littrell, director of TSLAC’s Library
Development and Networking Division. “We purchased the databases after
identifying them as high-quality resources that could provide all
Texas libraries with valuable information regarding Texas history in
context.”

“At the heart of the publishing programs of both Adam Matthew and SAGE
is a commitment to helping libraries serve their communities by
delivering access to quality content,” added Stephen Barr, President,
SAGE International. “We are delighted to be partnering with TexShare
to enable broader access to two of Adam Matthew’s unique
primary-resource products.”

The bid, announced by TSLAC in August 2013, was finalized at the end
of September. This is the first State-wide consortium deal for Adam
Matthew since it was purchased as a standalone subsidiary by the
international publisher SAGE in October 2012. Roll-out to all TexShare
members began November 1st.
