Sergio Verdú wins the 2016 NAS Award for Scientific Reviewing

now publishers congratulates Sergio Verdú of Princeton University on
receiving the 2016 National Academy of Sciences Award for Scientific
Reviewing, presented this year in computer science
(http://www.nasonline.org/programs/awards/scientific-reviewing.html).
This award recognizes his “consistent and distinguished contributions
of review material in information theory and his leading role in
developing high-quality review journals covering broad areas of the
information sciences”. The NAS Award for Scientific Reviewing has
been presented annually since 1979 to recognize authors, whose reviews
have synthesized extensive and difficult material, rendering a
significant service to science and influencing the course of
scientific thought. The field rotates among biological, physical, and
social sciences.

Sergio Verdú is the Editor-in-Chief of Foundations and Trends (FnT) in
Communications and Information Theory (www.nowpublishers.com/cit),
which he was instrumental in developing. He also authored the
inaugural issue, “Random Matrix Theory and Wireless Communication,”
which became the benchmark for the reviews published in all FnTs. In
honor of Sergio’s award, we are making this issue freely available at
http://dx.doi.org/10.1561/0100000001. Foundations and Trends has
proven to be an important tool that has allowed researchers to quickly
get up to speed on important topics in their area of research. now
publishers is proud to have had Sergio's guidance in creating these
peer-reviewed journals which now cover more than 30 different areas in
computer science, electrical engineering, and business.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
