Subject: Re: Gold OA & BOAI requirements

A bad translation is better than no translation? Really? How about
of an article describing medical treatment? Or a work of literary
genius in its original language? In the former, heaven help the
reader if a key word is wrong. In the latter, shouldn't the author of
a work of literature have the ability to say whether a translation of
her work is acceptable? Or delegate someone to make that decision?

Gee, is bad science better than no science? Or is bad research better
than no research? Words matter--in any language.
