From: Dan Scott <[log in to unmask]> Date: Thu, 29 Nov 2012 15:09:00 +0000 Hi Jeffrey and fellow group members We did indeed take the matter up with the authors, who confirmed that the definition of gender in question is taken from a WHO report (http://www.who.int/topics/gender/en/) and this is referenced in the paper. We also screen all articles using plagiarism software and nothing showed up. Therefore, on this occasion we have taken no further action, but will continue to be vigilant and respond to queries as they arise. Kind regards DAN -----Original Message----- From: "Beall, Jeffrey" <[log in to unmask]> Date: Tue, 27 Nov 2012 18:33:22 -0700 In the interest of fairness, I think people should know that I have documented plagiarism in the first issue (vol. 1, no. 1) of Social Sciences Directory. That documentation is in the form of a comment left after the article in question: http://www.socialsciencesdirectory.com/index.php/socscidir/comment/view/24/0/4 Mr. Scott did acknowledge my comment in an email to me, but the questionable article is still there. Perhaps he is continuing his investigation. The first issue contains two other articles, one co-authored by one of the co-authors of the plagiarized article. I have not analyzed the other two articles for plagiarism.
