From: "Bondar, Audrey" <[log in to unmask]> Date: Mon, 21 Jan 2013 07:54:18 -0500 Hi Susan, Thank you for the feedback. This collection is an annual subscription. I have purchased other ebooks that would be, to me, the same as purchasing a print copy. You pay for the next edition if you choose to. However, for a subscribed title we expected the most current information. --Audrey -----Original Message----- From: Susan Raidy-Klein <[log in to unmask]> Date: Thu, 17 Jan 2013 12:16:40 -0500 Audrey, It's not clear from your comment If you purchased the collection without a contractual stipulation that they would be replaced with more current editions. Generally, the subscription method would provide for updating of editions, but not a one-time purchase. Hope this helps, Susan Susan Raidy-Klein Collection Development & Acquisition Librarian University of Massachusetts Dartmouth N. A couple days ago I decided to take a closer look at the Ovid Lippincott's Clinical Choice Collection of ebook titles. There are 36 books in the collection. Of them: 2013=1; 2012=1; 2011=1; 2010=3; 2009=12; 2008=3; 2006=4; 2005=4; 2002=1; 2001=3; 2000=1 and 1999=2 (I used the date info found on the website but searching elsewhere the date was sometimes off by 1 year) Of these included titles: CLINICAL ANESTHESIA, 2009, 6th edition is listed but the 7th 2013 is available and it is a LWW title Schiff's DISEASES OF THE LIVER, 2006, 10th edition--this title is now published by Wiley as the 11th edition 2012 and access is provided to the 10th edition MODERN NUTRITION IN HEALTH AND DISEASE, 2005, 10th edition--11th ed. 2014 LWW is listed in OCLC but access is to the older ed. REICHEL'S CARE OF THE ELDERLY: CLINICAL ASPECTS OF AGING, 1999, 5th edition--the 2009 is published by Cambridge and access is given to the 5th I'm disappointed. My expectation is that when we are subscribing to a clinical collection we are receiving the most current edition of the titles listed. Also, I didn't realize that the year with the most titles is 2009. I will review all future collection purchases more closely. What do you think?
