The UPCC collections include scholarly books primarily in the humanities and social sciences from more than 100 university presses and related not-for-profit publishers, and will make available some 30,000 digital books by the end of 2014. With the inclusion of content from several distinguished university presses for 2014, among them the University of California Press, University of Minnesota Press, and the recently revived University of Missouri Press, MUSE continues to expand its book offerings in key disciplines including literature, anthropology, political science, cultural studies, religion, regional studies, and the arts. A total of twelve additional participating publishers have been confirmed to date, including: Chinese University Press Cornell University Press Fortress Press Leuven University Press Northern Illinois University Press Ohio State University Press School for Advanced Research Press Texas Tech University Press University of California Press University of Minnesota Press University of Missouri Press University of South Carolina Press Discussions are ongoing with interested publishers and it is expected that more participants may be announced prior to the end of the year. UPCC Acquisition Options include Collection and Single-Title Purchasing, Time-Based Subscriptions MUSE offers libraries several choices for accessing the UPCC scholarship on the MUSE platform. Purchase options include collections of forthcoming, recent, and backlist titles in best-selling subjects such as Political Science and Policy Studies, History, Global Cultural Studies, and Religion and Philosophy. Libraries may choose to acquire deeply in selected subject areas, or purchase a broad interdisciplinary mix of the latest titles from many of the best scholarly publishers. Also available are Area Studies Collections, introduced for 2013 in response to library requests, including African Studies, American Studies, Asian and Pacific Studies, Jewish Studies, Latin American and Caribbean Studies, Native American and Indigenous Studies, and Russian and East European Studies. These interdisciplinary collections bring together books that facilitate in-depth examination of the historical, cultural, political, and social forces shaping the region of interest. Also introduced during 2013 was the option for title-by-title book purchasing, currently facilitated through YBP Library Services. Libraries may supplement collection purchases or build a customized collection from the ground up, as well as integrate UPCC ebooks into approval plans, utilizing YBP's acquisition and collection management services. Access to UPCC books is also offered through a subscription model, with two options based on the publication dates of the included titles. The Current Subscription option provides faculty and students with unlimited access to more than 8,500 books published in 2012, 2013, and forthcoming in 2014. With affordable tiered subscription rates, libraries may choose to subscribe as a method for examining ebook usage at their institution, and determining which collections and books would be best suited for permanent acquisition. An Archive Subscription is also available, providing unlimited access to over 21,000 UPCC books published in 2011 or earlier for a very reasonable fee. All UPCC books on MUSE are DRM-free, with unlimited simultaneous usage, downloading, and printing. Accessible on any PDF-compatible mobile device, the books are fully integrated for searching and browsing with the hundreds of thousands of scholarly journal articles in MUSE.
