From: Rick Anderson <[log in to unmask]> Date: Tue, 7 Jan 2014 19:20:42 +0000 Has anyone else received a message like the one below? Scientific & Academic Publishing is one of the outfits included on Beall's List as a "predatory" publisher, so I'm not surprised that I got a blind solicitation from them — we all get those as a matter of course. What concerns me is that SAP is acting as if an article I published two years ago in the Journal of Academic Librarianship has been submitted to SAP for publication in one of its journals. Now, I realize that the message doesn't say explicitly that the article was submitted to SAP—it only says that they have "read the abstract" and will "recommend" it to their editors—but what concerns me is the possibility that they might decide to republish it without permission. Have others on the list had experiences with this crew? I responded to the message asking the sender to identify him- or herself and to explain where they got the idea that my article had been made available to them for editorial consideration, but I don't really expect a reply.
