From: Tony Sanfilippo <[log in to unmask]> Date: Thu, 22 Oct 2015 09:55:42 -0400 Reddit has long had a subreddit that does essentially the same thing. https://www.reddit.com/r/Scholar/ A user posts the title of an article they're trying to get access to on the subreddit and another user either posts a link to a copy of the article on a third-party file sharing site, or they send it to them via Reddit's messaging system, if they don't want the transaction to be public. They might also delete the link on the subreddit after the recipient has acknowledged receipt of the article. There is no reason to believe that these are the authors sharing their work. It's worth noting that the Scholar subreddit has over 26,000 subscribers sharing articles.
