Job Description Vice President/Director Global Library Relations Description Your responsibilities: *Work with key library organizations and leading influential librarians to establish and develop strong mutually beneficial relationships. Champion change as needed by discerning where Elsevier would benefit from reviewing its practices with regards to the library community, and take the initiative to follow up by ensuring implications are understood and adopted by product development and/or policy-making teams. *Establish mechanisms to monitor and co-ordinate relationships with library organizations and leading librarians by leveraging your own network as well as Elsevier's networks; *Establish cross-departmental teams to address issues affecting librarians *Lead regular team meetings in person and by phone to set objectives, develop plans and review progress *Build on existing library programs including Elsevier's library advisory boards. *Attend and speak at key events to position Elsevier as a trusted, innovative, and collaborative partner for the library community and at the same time learn about the views and opinions of the library community which are relevant to Elsevier and where Elsevier should consider reviewing its policies. *Identify mechanisms to develop and deepen relationships as appropriate; *Leverage Elsevier's capabilities to deliver analyses to form the basis of further discussions. Set up systematic studies. *Form and lead collaborative projects that meet mutual objectives. *Facilitate knowledge transfer with Elsevier colleagues, helping to "cross-pollinate" where appropriate. This role reports to the Senior Vice President of Global Academic Relations. Location of this role could be in the New York, London or Amsterdam region. This is a global role; therefore extensive international travel will be required. Qualifications: *University degree (e.g. advanced degree in either library science, or in STM with extensive library experience) *Demonstrated networking abilities among senior leaders in the library community *Extensive experience within the library world and respected by their peers *Deep knowledge of the decision-making of the library community, the universities and their leadership; familiar with library policies and well-connected with library organizations *Excellent ambassadorial qualities: able to effectively promote Elsevier privately and publicly *Authoritative, credible, able to engage in debate in an open, assertive and non-defensive manner *Excellent communication skills - written and verbal (in English); experience in addressing the media would be very helpful *Relentless energy, drive and enthusiasm: takes initiative and innovates.
