From: Shirley Ainsworth <[log in to unmask]> Date: Fri, Jun 17, 2016 at 1:55 PM What is the relationship between Biomed Central, SpringerOpen and Springer Open Access? Apart from all being part of the Springer Nature imperium, that is. I was under the impression that Biomed Central was the main 'quality' OA offering from Springer, although the imprint includes all sorts, and that SpringerOpen was the production and hosting part offered to societies with presumably less control. However I have noticed several journals that used to be published as BMC are now appearing under SpringerOpen, for example Geochemical Transactions, Chemistry Central Journal, Journal of Cheminformatics, EPJ Nonlinear Biomedical Physics... And society journals like Applied Cancer Research and the Revista Chilena de Historia Natural, the official publication of Sociedad de Biologia de Chile, are published with BMC. The whole thing seems to be further confused as both BMC and SpringerOpen maintain separate web presences as well as being available on SpringerLink. Am I the only confused one? thanks!
