Sterling is down about 15% against both the US dollar and Euro compared to this time last year. But frankly equally chilling are increases in the ‘range of 5 to 6 percent’. Even ignoring currency issues these figures are far away from any budget increases (for those lucky enough to have increases) in UK libraries. I can only assume that vendors proposing those increases don’t place a premium on good relations with the people who purchase their products. I further assume that they hope that it won’t be their products that are cancelled. But products will need to be cancelled to balance budgets.
