Proposals are invited for a new series called “Perspectives on Open Access” to be published by the University of Ottawa Press

The transformative implications of open access philosophy and practice are numerous and far-reaching. Economic, cultural, and social issues are being openly explored, and new knowledge and forms of inquiry are being advanced in an increasingly interdisciplinary context. Thanks to the reach afforded by open access venues, scholars are interacting with global audiences and significantly extending their impact and visibility in society.

This new series proposes to examine open access as an area of scholarly inquiry and will publish peer-reviewed monographs that examine its role in contemporary society. With this series, the University of Ottawa Press, already a leader in open access publishing in Canada, will expand its scope to be on the leading edge of new scholarship in this rapidly evolving area.

We welcome proposals in all areas of open access scholarship including, but not limited to:

·         Economic, cultural, and social issues;

·         New methodologies, models, paradigms, and theories;

·         Public policy discourse and opportunities;

·         Interdisciplinary approaches that touch upon multiple fields, such as information science, sociology, law, economics, political science, philosophy, and cultural studies;

·         New forms of knowledge creation, dissemination, and use in an open access environment

Books in this series will be made available under a Creative Commons license as agreed to by the Author and the Press.

The University of Ottawa Press publishes works in both official languages. Proposals can be either in English or in French.
