From: "Moore, Catherine" <[log in to unmask]> Date: Mon, 26 Mar 2018 14:53:16 +0000 OpenAccess sounds fine but the article doesn't mention how editors/reviewers will get paid. They make journals prestigious as they supposedly provide vigorous review of study reports, which makes it easier for readers to appraise the study's validity and relevance to their own practice. How to pay them is why Open Access has failed so far. The article's note re librarians "They want to preserve the money and power they have to finance the subscriptions to the prestigious journals. They fear that if they don’t have this money anymore, their role will be less important." is only part of what we are supposed to be doing - providing quick and easy access to journal articles for the various reasons a user's need arises -a reference, a literature search etc. Catherine Catherine Moore | Library Manager | Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital | Health Sciences Library 680 Centre Street, Brockton MA 02302-3308| Tel 508-941-7208 | [log in to unmask] “Trusting that one source has all you’ll ever need, is believing that a small group of men in the universe are know-it-alls.” -----Original Message----- From: Subbiah Arunachalam <[log in to unmask]> Date: Sat, 24 Mar 2018 22:15:37 +0530 The EU is determined to make all the literature OA by 2020!
