This piece puts the oddity of the current situation (some US
newspapers unavailable to European readers online due to
non-compliance with the GDPR personal data prescriptions) in a
slightly wider context of concern over the state and fate of
journalism.

US newspapers have a variety of responses, with some in full
compliance, some doing special compliant versions, and some not
available to European IP addresses at all.  The piece argues cogently
that it's not good for journalism for news sources to be choosing to
cut themselves off from potential readers in order to sustain a
business plan.
