The circumstances of these transactions vary a lot, but historical precedents in the UK include the purchase of the Open University Press by McGraw Hill in 2002, and the purchase of the original Aberdeen University Press by Pergamon in 1978.

No Saskia I can’t think of any examples. The only thing that is sort
of along these lines that I can think of is the buying of Knowledge
Unlatched by a for-profit company.
