The University of California, Berkeley Library seeks a creative and
forward-thinking professional to develop a unified approach to library
technical collection support service operations across library units in
order to address the rapidly evolving and changing services in support of
library collections. This position represents a key opportunity to steward
an integrated collection services philosophy across the library and to
lead, shape and collaborate with the staff and librarians engaged in
selecting, acquiring, preserving, making accessible and discoverable
scholarly resources for the University of California, Berkeley Library
community.

Reporting to the Associate University Librarian for Scholarly Resources,
the Head, Collection Services Division will oversee the operational
management, overall administration, long term planning, prioritization and
coordination of acquisitions, cataloging and metadata services, e-resource
management, preservation, and discovery. The Division Head is responsible
for establishing and implementing technical collection support services
policies, standards, best practices and procedures for the Library. The
Division Head will lead three direct reports who collectively manage 4
librarians and 31 staff.

The successful candidate will stay abreast of national trends and new
developments in all areas of collection services. In this role the Division
Head will collaborate with subject specialty libraries, other Library
Division Heads, Library councils, Digital Library Program, Library
administration and other departments and units within the Berkeley Library.
The Division Head will also represent the Library at the UC system level
and in regional, national, and international cooperative programs
concerning collection support services and processing.
