Good morning, amidst this COVID19 phenomenon our school shifted to online learning, we have online databases - some can be accessed by the students remotely while others are not. Before COVID 19 students have the option to go to the library or access those databases that allow remote access, now that we are going to shift to online learning, what strategies may we continue to serve our students so that we will continue to become relevant to this mode of teaching and learning?
Thank you.

Teaching and Learning Online: Innovation Under Pressure

Friday, April 3, 2020, 12:00-1:00 pm (Eastern Daylight Time, US & Canada)

The shift from classroom instruction to online learning is both an opportunity and a challenge for faculty and their libraries alike. This free virtual roundtable will bring together experts from a range of roles and institution types to discuss some of the lessons learned, how they are managing, what has been involved in moving to online instruction with little advance notice, and to share useful techniques for navigating the inevitable constraints as well as potential strategies for success. Our speakers will address questions ranging from how much advance planning their institutions had done, the issues they’re now encountering, and how they’re managing a partly or fully remote workforce, to the likely eventual impact of this unexpected — and wholesale — move to online for scholarship and learning in future.

More information on our event page — registration is FREE, but please RSVP to attend!

Confirmed speakers:

  • Bryan Alexander, Independent Analyst and Consultant

  • Derek Bruff, Director of the Center for Teaching, Vanderbilt University

  • Michael Reese, Associate Dean/Director of Center of Educational Resources, Johns Hopkins University

  • Heather Reid, Dean of the Library, Berklee College of Music

  • Jon Shaw, Associate Vice Provost and Deputy University Librarian, University of Pennsylvania
