Hi Hannah,

Here is the license agreement we use at DePaul when a vendor or filmmaker doesn't have their own agreement. Typically we use this for films we buy as perpetual titles but have used for some limited time length licenses. Our Office of General Counsel approved this for us to use. It's simple but covers the things we need it to and we made sure not to reference any potential use of materials that would already be permitted under fair use.

This has been a useful agreement for us especially since we started acquiring streaming video which we host ourselves though Alma Digital.

Hello—

We are in the process of licensing a single, digital film for a 3 year period.

The provider does NOT have a contract, and instead is requesting that we send them our own contract language that agrees to the following points:

  • “…the film will not be used for any commercial screening out of the institution and it will be accessible for students that can't DOWNLOAD the film and USE it for other audiovisual products / contents. The film should be used just for consultation and screenings from and for the institution during the three years. Also, we are open to renewing the contract once the period is over.”

I don’t have anything immediately put together as the provider typically sends us an agreement to review.

Does anyone happen to have language or an agreement you’ve used to license a single-file digital film that you’d be willing to share?

Thanks!

Hannah
