Hi everyone,
Lately it seems every day there is some interesting new Read & Publish agreement being announced by a library and a publisher. Please can I draw your attention especially to this one: https://www.knowledgespeak.com/news/eifl-signs-free-read-publish-agreement-with-iwap/.
Thanks to an agreement between EIFL (https://www.eifl.net/) and society publisher International Water Association Publishing (https://www.iwapublishing.com/), libraries in 26 countries are eligible for free access to 10 subscription journals AND their researchers are eligible for APC-free open access publishing. This is a win for libraries and researchers in Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lesotho, Malawi, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, North Macedonia, Moldova, Senegal, Sudan, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Tanzania, Zambia, & Zimbabwe.
This is the first deliverable from our project to explore cost-neutral open access agreements between society publishers and library consortia in developing and transition economy countries, and I hope there will be more news to come. More information about the project is online here: https://www.informationpower.co.uk/project-to-explore-open-access-agreements-between-society-publishers-and-library-consortia-in-developing-and-transition-economy-countries/.
If there is enough interest, we would be happy to organise a free webinar to enable library and publisher participants to share their thoughts and experiences.
With best wishes,
Alicia
