Hello, all! The University of California, San Francisco Library is embarking on an initiative with the goal of building a network of UCSF journal editors and facilitating expertise sharing and mentoring between UCSF editors and underrepresented in medicine (UIM) faculty and early career researchers. We will also use this network to provide and promote open science education.

We’ve searched the literature for examples of similar types of partnerships but have mostly found examples of partnerships with journal editors for library publishing initiatives. While we are eager to guide journals and editors to our institutional publishing platforms (eScholarship and UC Press), that isn’t the focus of our initiative. So I’m sending this message to this list (as well as ALA Scholarly Communication Discussion Group) to find out if there are instances out there that we might have missed.

If you have a program related to any of these aspects, either at an academic institution or a publishing house, could you let me know the parameters of your program, how long it’s been running, what successes you’ve had, and other relevant information? You can see a full description of our initiative here.

Many thanks!

Anneliese
