The results of a survey of a researchers’ needs and priorities for data sharing, conducted by PLOS in May-June 2020, were released this week as a preprint, along with the supporting data.

The results have not been peer-reviewed but will be submitted to a journal soon. Thanks to members of this community who shared the survey amongst their networks last year. We received 728 completed responses and 667 partial responses, predominantly researchers in biological and medical research disciplines, many of whom had previously published in PLOS journals. The paper discusses the implications for what PLOS, and potentially other publishers, can do to better support data sharing by researchers.
