Sure. And that was a motivation for us to continue with RePEc. Even
though the original founders were economics professors we were able
to preserve a non-commercial working papers culture in economics,
effectively blocking SSRN in their home turf.

Socarxiv looks opaque in terms of ownership. I certainly would
not promote it.
