Hi Sharon,

We generally prefer tier-based or FTE-based pricing. Our health science
students may be on a different “campus”, but that’s because the best place
we could buy to put those growing programs happened to be 15 miles from the
rest of our school, which is in an area that doesn’t allow for expansion.
However, we’re still one institution with one central library serving
patrons from within the same IP range. And since so many students go
through our proxy server to access resources from home anyway, we think
geographical distribution should be a lesser consideration than the overall
number of students when it comes to pricing.

As a small publisher, we struggle with how to set our prices. We currently
use a tier-based pricing model, and we do consider the number of
geographical sites. We realize that, for quite a lot of our academic and
medical library subscribers, "single site" no longer applies. This
discussion has been interesting to us, and we would like to pose a question
to the list:

What pricing model would most librarians prefer?

Feel free to email me off-list.

Thank you in advance for your replies. I look forward to reading them.
