Hi Ginny

It is sad that Force 11 are so uninterested in publishers or even others
(such as some from Crossref) coming to this meeting that they choose the
key dates of the Frankfurt Book Fair for Force 2019

Is this deliberate or just incompetent?

Anthony

Hi, this is likely coming to you via several listserv postings; apologies
for duplication.

The FORCE2019 meeting, taking place in Edinburgh this October 15-17, has
announced their first two keynote speakers:

*Rachel Bruce* is Head of Open Science at UK Research and Innovation (*UKRI
<https://www.ukri.org/>*); and *Arfon Smith* is the Editor-in-Chief of
the Journal
of Open Source Software <http://joss.theoj.org/> and Head of the Data
Science Mission Office at the Space Telescope Science Institute
<http://www.stsci.edu/> in Baltimore.

They’ll address themes in infrastructure and promoting open research

If you’ve never been to FORCE before, it’s a unique and collaborative
meeting. It brings together multiple communities to discuss improving the
ways scholarly and scientific information is communicated, shared and used.

"I can't think of a better conference for meeting smart people focused on
designing and building the future of scholarly infrastructure – that's why
FORCE is so special." *– Arfon Smith *

The full program will be announced later in the year with themes including:
who are the trailblazers; promoting open research; infrastructure for
research comms; and what skills do we need for transforming the scholarly
community.

Come along and you’ll likely meet some new collaborators!

Best wishes,

Ginny Hendricks
