The Caltech Library is recruiting an Acquisitions and Electronic
Resources Librarian to provide leadership for materials acquisitions
and electronic resources management for the Caltech Library.

The Acquisitions and Electronic Resources Librarian is a member of the
Research Services department, which is composed of 9 librarians and 2
support staff. The department staff supports five programmatic areas:
collection management; outreach, instruction and reference services;
repository services; acquisitions; and metadata. An acquisitions,
processing and catalog maintenance team of 3 staff manages the
Library's largely electronic $3.25 million materials budget and
performs metadata and e-resources management work to support discovery
and access.

The Librarian works closely with subject librarians, Access and
Fulfillment staff, and the Library Business Administrator to support
data-driven, innovative strategies to maximize the impact of the
library's' collections budget to provide the needed scholarly research
materials for the Caltech community.

The Librarian has primary responsibility for vendor relations and
coordinates the full materials acquisitions and management lifecycle.
The Librarian plays a leadership role in identifying and implementing
opportunities to adapt the traditional library environment to evolving
technologies, user expectations, and business opportunities. The
Librarian has primary responsibility for identifying and implementing
new approaches to electronic resource management; managing usage
statistics and other assessment data for electronic resources; and
providing internal training and information on electronic resources
management best practices and tools.

The Acquisitions and Electronic Resources Librarian will be
professionally engaged, represent the Caltech Library in relevant
professional organizations, and promote the professional development
and engagement of department staff.
